Ushna Suhail and Mahin Aftab Make History at Islamabad Women’s Tennis Futures
Their achievement marks a significant step forward for women’s tennis in Pakistan on the international circuit.
ISLAMABAD: The first leg of the W15 Islamabad–World Tennis Women’s Futures Championships 2026 continued at the PTF Tennis Complex, with players from 17 countries competing in the international event.
A total of 30 players representing France, China, Russia, Denmark, Mexico, Uzbekistan, South Africa, the Netherlands, Korea, Nepal, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, Thailand, Türkiye, the Czech Republic and Pakistan are taking part in the championship.
France’s Astrid Cirotte, ranked 624th in the world, is the tournament’s top seed.
Pakistani Players Compete in International Event
Pakistan’s leading women players, including Ushna Suhail, Mahin Aftab Qureshi, Meheq Khokhar, Romaisa Malik and Hajra Sohail, are competing in the championships.
Nine matches were played on the opening day, featuring both singles and doubles action.
Ushna and Mahin Make History
Ushna Suhail and Mahin Aftab Qureshi created a milestone for Pakistani women’s tennis by becoming the first Pakistani pair to win a doubles match at a World Tennis Women’s Futures tournament.
The Pakistani duo defeated fellow Pakistani Romaisa Malik and South Africa’s Nissa Finnigan 6-0, 6-0 in the opening round.
The victory sent Ushna and Mahin into the second round of the doubles competition and earned them valuable WTA ranking points.

Sofiia Suslova (Russia) defeated Liliya Piskun (Russia) 0-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Elena Jamshidi (Denmark) defeated Meheq Khokhar (Pakistan) 6-0, 6-0.
Sevil Yuldasheva (Uzbekistan) defeated Anna Simkina (Russia) 6-0, 6-0.
Anastasiya Kuparev (Germany) defeated Hajra Sohail (Pakistan) 6-4, 6-1.
Suzuna Oigawa (Japan) defeated Jeong Moon (Korea) 6-2, 6-2.
Women’s Doubles Results
Warona Mdlulwa and Wozuko Mdlulwa (South Africa) defeated Sofiia Suslova and Liliya Piskun (Russia) 6-3, 6-2.
Suzuna Oigawa (Japan) and Kei Yau Cheung (Hong Kong) defeated Sabrina Olimjanova (Uzbekistan) and Varvara Rubtsova (Russia) 6-2, 6-2.
Julia Khramtsova and Ksenia Laskutova (Russia) defeated Serife Pelin Sari (Türkiye) and Abhilasha Bista (Nepal) 6-1, 6-1.
