Bangladesh Beat Pakistan by 30 Runs in U19 Women’s T20 Tri-Series Opener

Nishita Akter shines with 23 runs and two wickets as Bangladesh defend 117-8 to restrict Green-shirts to 87-6

Bangladesh began their campaign in the Rivaj Presents the University of Lahore U19 Women’s T20 Tri-Nation Series with a 30-run victory over hosts Pakistan at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Friday.

Defending a total of 117-8, Bangladesh restricted Pakistan to 87-6 in their 20 overs. The match also marked the first time Iqbal Stadium hosted an international women’s cricket fixture.

Pakistan will return to action against Sri Lanka on Saturday, with the match scheduled to begin at 11am at the same venue.

Nishita Akter Nishi Leads Bangladesh to Victory

Bangladesh’s Nishita Akter Nishi delivered an all-round performance to earn Player of the Match honours. She scored 23 runs batting at number three before taking two wickets for 16 runs in her four overs.

Chasing 118 for victory, Pakistan managed 87-6, with Komal Khan top-scoring with 29 off 39 balls, including three fours.

Komal shared a 21-run opening partnership with Ravail Farhan, who made an aggressive start with four boundaries before falling for 17 off 12 deliveries to left-arm spinner Afrin Mim.

Pakistan subsequently lost five wickets for 37 runs as Bangladesh’s bowlers maintained pressure from both ends. Zoofishan Ayyaz, who scored 12 off 15 balls with two fours, and Aqsa Habib, who made nine off 14 deliveries, were dismissed by Nishita.

Debutant Pakeeza Shabbir managed six runs at number three, while Shahar Bano struggled to find the boundary during her 18-ball stay at the crease.

Afrin also claimed a wicket, while Farjana Easmim Medha and Oddrita Nowshin took one wicket each. Bangladesh’s six bowlers all conceded fewer than six runs per over.

Sadia Akter Guides Bangladesh to 117-8

Earlier, Bangladesh elected to bat after winning the toss but faced early pressure from Pakistan’s bowling attack, losing their first four wickets for 47 runs in 9.4 overs.

Sadia Akter then provided a crucial contribution, remaining unbeaten on 34 off 25 balls, including one four and two sixes. Sraboni Shill supported her with 12 off 11 deliveries, striking two boundaries.

Nishita contributed 23 off 33 balls, including one boundary, while number-four batter Sadia Aslam scored 12 off 11 deliveries with two fours.

Sadia Akter also added 19 runs for the ninth wicket with Oddrita Nowshin, who remained unbeaten on six off two balls, helping Bangladesh finish on 117-8 in 20 overs.

For Pakistan, left-arm pacer Mahnoor Zeb was the leading wicket-taker, claiming three wickets for 24 runs in four overs. Off-spinner Rozina Akram took two wickets, while Shahar Bano and local left-arm spinner Maham Nazakat picked up one wicket each.
